Biography

Carl Urben has had a highly successful career as a consulting engineer. He designed or led the design of the mechanical systems of many buildings in the city of Portland, both institutional and commercial. After his graduation in 1958, Urben worked for Kroeker and Associates, CH2M, and Nortec engineering firms until joining PAE Consulting Engineers in 1972. He was President of PAE for some 15 years prior to his retirement in 1998. He is a past president of the Consulting Engineers Council of Oregon. If we look around the Portland skyline, many of the buildings he worked on stand out: the Oregon Convention Center, the Federal Courthouse, the KOIN Center, and First Interstate Bank, among others.
